Doing a good amount of exercise,
And then out of nowhere we get the 'Invitation'
Note: This might not be an official letter and envelope invitation (do people still do that in 2017?) but it's an invitation none the less.
It goes something like this:
Friend via text/email/messenger/whatsapp: Hey, we're all going out for some food and a few drinks this weekend, are you coming?
The devil has already replied YES!!!!!
While the Angel goes into panic mode!!!!!!
So now what?
You've agreed to go out and consume copious amounts of lovely but potentially new you destroying calories and you don't know what to do.
You can't just salad and water it because seriously who does that?
And you can't cancel and let your friends down.
And you can't go and eat and drink all of the calories because you'll just undo all of your hard work,
So.... What do you do?
Well one option is to drink a TON of water (not an actual ton, that's dangerous, more like 2-3 litres) before you go out as this will help to 1. Hydrate you and reduce the hangover and 2. Fill you up a bit meaning you MIGHT not consume as many calories.
Another option is to choose the healthiest meal on the planet combined with spirits and lower calorie mixers (gin and tonic, vodka and lime and soda etc)
Or another option is to simply go and eat and drink what your CONSCIOUS wants to eat and drink and then simply work to offset those calories during the week.
Let me show you via some numbers how eating and drinking what you want doesn't have to be as bad as you might think.
For arguments sake let's say you consume (worst case scenario) 3000 calories on your night out.
(Starters, mains and desert, coupled with a few alcoholic beverages will do that to you quite easily.)
And let's say your recommended daily allowance is 2000 calories (this will be different for everyone but I'm keeping it super simple to make a point so please stay with me).
Therefore you're going to go over your Calories by 1000 just in a few hours.
So how do you offset this during the week?
Cut out 100 calories of food/drink per day for 10 days (you can do this EASILY by skipping a biscuit, halving the portion of on of your meals for each day, swapping your juice/fizzy drink for water etc etc)
Or you could add in 100 calories of exercise a day for 10 days (a ten minute power walk will do this so just just park a little further away from the office/shops/school and boom, 100 calories gone just like that).
So when you look at it like that,
A night out with your mates isn't actually that bad in the grand scheme of things.
Ergo.. Make it a great weekend and I'll see you on the other side.
